Aloha! My name is James Ward and I'm a local resident of Hilo. I graduated from the University of Hawaii-Hilo with a double major in Business Administration and Communication while playing NCAA College Soccer and Basketball. I've also started on an MBA in Global Business Management, am PADI Scuba Certified as well as have my First Aid, CPR and AED Certifications. In my late 20's I left a successful management career to chase my passion for adventure. I followed my heart, and eventually formed Epic! Tours Jeep Adventures. My mission is to spread "Aloha" to all by creating unique island adventures that will last a lifetime.
Aloha from the Big Island of Hawai'i! Thank you for taking the time to check out EpicBigIsland. Making the choice out of all the different types of tours this island has to offer can be a bit daunting, so we decided to mix all of the different tours together into an exciting Jeep Tour.
The Jeep Adventure Tour Company, Epic! Tours LLC seeks to encourage and lead a passion for Hawaii travel by offering very unique tour excursions.
The Big Island of Hawaii will be the premier setting for this Tour Company—a beautiful island that consists of 11 out of the 13 world climate zones.
The Big Island of Hawaii is unique in that at certain times of the year you can watch a sunrise on a snow-capped Mauna Kea and still have time for early morning breakfast on the beach at one of the nicest beaches (Makalawena beach) in all of Polynesia. The Big Island speaks to your heart and everyone is affected by its beauty and natural isolation that reminds us to care for our ohana, natural species, and the environment.
The Jeep Tour idea originated in 2011 when close friend Joe Arce and owner, James thought it would be awesome to go on adventures with visitors to their favorite spots on the island via Jeeps! In the fall of 2013, Epic! Tours was formed into an LLC. Since then James and others have been adventuring with visitors and continually building the adventure company.
Efforts have been under way to not only take excursions in the (optional) doorless, topless Jeeps all around the beautiful island but to also improve the island’s schools with community service projects and by giving slippers (sandals) to children in need. For every tour given, slippers will be given to local school children during scheduled Slipper Drops. Epic! Tours is also committed to passionately doing its part in lowering emissions and maintaining a carbon-neutral company to ensure a sustainable future and extends an invitation to the worldwide community to also embark on this excursion. In the same way that others on the Big Island are creating a meaningful difference, Epic! Tours will showcase tours and community outreach videos via the web (Facebook.com/epictours) that can spring up much-needed change for the world.
